Hello! I’m Liz Flaisig, a 15-year veteran of teaching creative writing in public high school and a 16-year veteran of newspaper writing.
Reading and writing have been a lifelong passion for me.
As a professional journalist, I wrote for several newspapers, including The Florida Times-Union and The Jacksonville Business Journal. Then, I took my love of writing into the classroom, most recently chairing the Creative Writing Department at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Library and Information Studies to bring my love of reading and writing full circle.
This tutoring endeavor grows from a love for learning that was instilled by my family, with special emphasis on the importance and value of libraries as community learning centers. The sunflower image anchoring this website is in honor of my late sister, who shared with me a constant love of reading early and often in my life. That’s how this writer began and fell in love with the craft.
It’s my joy and pleasure to share reading and writing skills for academic and creative work. I look forward to working with your student in creating personal learning experiences based on their specific needs.
